Still playing with clay
I have loved clay since I was a child, playing with air-drying clay and plasticine. Now as an adult (allegedly) of many years, I have spent the last 15 or so wandering through the endless possibilities the medium presents.
I spent many years as a typesetter and layout designer, but always longed to be working in three dimensions.
My imagination is only constrained by the size of my kiln. I make short runs and one-off larger pieces of tableware, although I return to some forms repeatedly to see if I can improve upon them.
My love of sculpture drives my larger, decorative hand built work to create impact and drama within a space.
Living in semi-rural surroundings in Hertfordshire, UK, I have the pleasure of big skyscapes and a variety of flora and fauna to keep me fascinated by life in all its forms. This, in turn, feeds into the textures, colours and shapes that emerge from the clay – sometimes even by design!
